About this event

Welcome to the wonders of the premodern world, where you might encounter mythological creatures, be tempted by a devil, trade spices along the Silk Road, witness a terrible battle, or meet a beneficient deity.

Learn about the marvels of a time long ago through expert talks, graduate student posters, and a library exhibit showcasing rare books and materials curated from a global perspective.

Undergraduates are welcome and encouraged to attend. There will be opportunities to talk with professors of Medieval and Early Modern Studies and learn more about the field and research opportunities.

4:30 to 5:00 p.m. Guided Tour of Archives and Special Collections display cases in the Shields Library lobby

Tour of Worlds Encompassed library exhibit, showcasing premodern manuscripts and imprints from the library's Archives and Special Collections, supplemented by student works from the Medieval and Early Modern Studies (MEMS) program

5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Moderated MEMS Faculty Panel Discussion of their recent book publications

6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Reception and Graduate Student Poster Session

Light refreshments and an opportunity to mingle, explore graduate student posters, and meet MEMS faculty
